I wanted to share some news that might be of interest to the COMS students – as of April 15 I will be teaching a 10 week course on creative thinking at Victoria Hall in Westmount. The idea is to develop the skills associated with creative thinking – so not go and stand on your head in the corner, but actual skills that can be practiced and developed. I taught some of these skills sets in the PR class, and decided to develop it further into an actual course.
It’s 10 weeks, from April 15 to June 17th, Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. I’ll provide a resource list, and materials to use in class. The cost is $85 and registration is through Claude Danis at the Westmount Recreation Centre, 514 989 5393.

I am a member of OpenMedia at McGill University; we are a club that works to promote greater engagement and empowerment of students on the Internet. We will be hosting a Wikipedia Workshop on April 10th, 5-6:30 pm, and we were wondering if anyone from your Communications department would be interested in joining us. The workshop will feature a member of the Wikimedia Foundation, who will give a presentation on the importance and politics of Wikimedia, followed by lesson on how students can edit Wikipedia pages themselves. The workshop is free, and anyone interested is highly encouraged to come!
